Christmas in October
Who doesn't like Oreos??
*crickets*
Exactly. Oreos are amazing, and so is Christmas. Put them together and you achieve GREATNESS.
One of our clients at work is Oreo, and I have been able to see a lot of the work come together before it airs. The ideas are awe inspiring and I'm so glad that I get to be a part of it. A couple of the team members came to me last week asking if I would be willing to help them out with a project. They were looking for Christmas themed cookie pops. We did some research and landed on an idea that we thought was both quirky and fun.
This decoration style is so easy to accomplish and is perfect if you're new to the decorating game. There's no way to go wrong. The crazy jumble of lights lets you make mistakes without anyone knowing. I will admit that in the end, there was a larger candy melt to cookie center ratio than I wanted. But come on, they look great, so who cares?
The pitch went well, so maybe you'll see these babies soon. If not, make them yourself and have a very merry Christmas! I know, it's still October.... A girl can dream.
Oreo Christmas Lights Pops
36 Oreo Oreos
1 8oz pkg cream cheese, soft
lollipop sticks
dark mint chocolate candy melts
green candy melts
candy coated sunflower seeds
1. Put the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they are a fine crumb. Place crushed Oreos into a stand mixer with the cream cheese and mix with a paddle attachment until fully combined.
2. Form mixture into tablespoon size balls and place on a cookie sheet, with parchment paper. Place in the fridge for 5 minutes.
3. Melt the dark chocolate and place in a deep bowl or cup. Take the balls out of the fridge. Dip the end of each lollipop stick in the chocolate and then stick into the balls. Place back in the fridge for another 5 minutes.
4. Take the balls back out and dip each one in the dark chocolate, making sure to fully encase each one. Carefully knock off any excess chocolate and then place upright to harden. (I used a floral foam stand to hold the pops).
5. Melt the green candy and place in a piping bag with a small round tip. Pipe a tangle of green lines all around the pop. Place the sunflower seeds, in no particular order, around the pops, having some stick out to give it more of a Christmas light feel.
6. Enjoy!
